LEESBURG, Florida – Wet floor signs are usually a sign of caution, but one became a weapon for a 21-year-old Eustis woman Friday.
Leesburg Police responded to LifeStream on Tally Road to assist Lake EMS with a battery call, according to an arrest affidavit. When the officer arrived, a nurse told him Gabriella Ray Lee Gibson ran inside, grabbed a yellow “wet floor” sign and struck the 67-year-old victim three times. The nurse yelled at Lee Gibson to stop and she chased the nurse out of the room with the sign held above her head.
Once she was outside the room, Lee Gibson – who has a history of aggression – dropped the sign. She refused to speak with the officer about the incident. Lee Gibson was taken to Leesburg Regional Medical Center for evaluation and then booked into the Lake County Jail on a felony charge of battery on a person 65 years or older. She was released the same day on a $2,000 bond.
