FRUITLAND PARK, Florida — Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man Sunday night.
A 48-year-old woman called LCSO shortly before midnight Sunday and said her ex-boyfriend, Thomas Lawton Brown was trying to come through her window on Shadow Hill Drive in Fruitland Park and she tried to shoot him with an air rifle, according to a report.
LCSO asked for assistance from Fruitland Park Police Department and officers from FPPD arrived first, according to a report. When LCSO arrived, an FPPD officer was attempting to speak with the woman, through a closed door. She “was apprehensive to comply” and eventually came outside and officers were speaking with Brown, who appeared to have a small wound to his neck. Brown was initially breathing, but then stopped and officers began CPR and requested EMS speed up its response time. Once EMS arrived, CPR and other life saving measures were performed on Brown, but he was declared dead on the scene.
The woman was secured by law enforcement, refused to answer questions, asked for an attorney, and asked numerous times to be charged or released, according to the report. The woman was turned over to the criminal investigations bureau the report states.
This is an ongoing investigation, LCSO Sgt. Fred Jones said in an email.
