DeLAND, Florida — A woman Lake Legal News reported on in March for robbing a disabled man is back behind bars, accused of battering a 79-year-old man and taking his cell phone so he could not call for help.
On Tuesday, a Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to West Lake Road in the DeLand area of Lake County on a report of a battery; LCSO received a second call from Rose Marie Flores, 41, who said she would meet a deputy about the incident; she told the deputy the victim gave her a ride to a friend’s house in Lake Mack and when the victim attempted to leave Flores claims she tried to retrieve her purse and the victim’s vehicle hit her hand. She told the deputy she believed that it was intentional and showed the deputy her right hand which did not have any visible injuries, according to an arrest affidavit.
The deputy asked her what occurred at the victim’s home and she said nothing occurred and she only went there to retrieve her belongings. However, the victim told the deputy Flores threw numerous objects at him, striking him in the right eye. The victim’s eye was bleeding and had a slight discoloration, the deputy noted in the affidavit. The victim said Flores also took his cell phone, which she was still in possession of when the deputy arrived.
Flores was taken into custody and charged with battery on a person over 65 and deprivation of 9-1-1. Currently she is being held in the Lake County Jail on $4,000 bond, but a motion was filed Wednesday to revoke her bond on the robbery charge LLN reported on in March. This latest arrest is Flores’ 15th time booked into the Lake County Jail.
In that case, Flores is accused of grabbing a physically disabled man by the throat, choking him nearly to unconsciousness, pushing him to the floor and stealing $200 out of his pocket. She was charged with grand theft and strong arm robbery in that case. According to LCJ records, she served just over two months on the grand theft charge and is still facing the robbery charge.
