EUSTIS, Florida — A woman struck head-on in a crash last month has died from her injuries.
Last month, only Lake Legal News reported on a head-on collision that closed busy County Road 452 for several hours on Jan. 24. Nicholas Moffett, 34, of Grand Island was traveling northbound on County Road 452 in a gray 2003 Dodge shortly after 9:30 p.m. when he became distracted and traveled into the southbound lane of County Road 452 near Foote Street, striking a maroon 2008 Mercury being driven by Crystal Rowans, 44, of Hernando. Rowans died from her injuries Feb. 2.
“A head-on crash occurred when Moffett reached down to get a water bottle, causing him to move into Rowan’s lane,” Eustis Police Officer Lauren Brown told LLN in January.
The crash caused Rowans’ vehicle to hit a black 2018 Ford, being driven by Reginald Palmer, 40, of Grand Island. Rowans was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition where she later died, and two unnamed passengers were transported by ambulance to AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares. Moffett and Palmer were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
