LEESBURG, Florida – A Leesburg man whose listed occupation is “rock star” on a Lake County Jail arrest affidavit has been charged with DUI manslaughter after a man died from blunt-force injuries sustained in the crash 11 days ago.
According to the affidavit, on Oct. 16, Jeffrey Michael Borovy, 49, was driving a Chevrolet Corvette on State Road 27 when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Equinox, being driven by Floyd LeMaster. The impact caused the Equinox to roll and strike two additional vehicles. LeMaster and his passenger were airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Borovy fled and hid behind a guardrail near Singletary Park, about 100 yards from the scene. Police spotted him hiding and he became belligerent when police read him his Miranda rights, according to the affidavit. Upon searching his car, police found two receipts including one from Shamrock Lounge & Package. Police contacted the lounge and they reportedly said Borovy drank two Fireball and four Grey Goose vodka drinks within an hour and a half. He was also kicked out of the lounge, according to the affidavit.
Borovy was charged the night of the crash with DUI, DUI with injury, leaving the scene of a crash with injury and violation of driver license restriction. During the investigation, a deputy found Borovy has restriction on his license – business purposes only – as a result of five-year suspension for habitual traffic offender.
The DUI manslaughter charge was added Monday, following LeMaster’s death early Sunday morning. Borovy is being held in the Lake County Jail on $297,000 bond.
