MASCOTTE, Florida — A 20-year-old Mascotte man was killed in a head-on crash with a semi truck early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man, who has not been identified, pending notification of next-of-kin, was traveling northbound on Bluff Lake Road in a pickup truck around 4:20 a.m. Saturday, when he traveled into the southbound lane for an unknown reason, said FHP Lt. Kim Montes.
The man struck a semi truck being driven by Jose Renya, 47, of Plant City, head-on. Renya was taken to South Lake Hospital for minor injuries and the unidentified man was pronounced dead on the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
