CLERMONT, Florida — A 54-year-old Clermont man is dead following a crash Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man was riding on a trike motorcycle northbound on State Road 33 near Evans Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. when he passed a semi-truck and failed to return to the northbound lane, FHP Lt. Kim Montes said. The trike hit a Toyota SUV, being driven by a 55-year-old man of Lakeland, head-on.
The man on the trike was pronounced dead on the scene; he was not wearing a helmet. The SUV’s driver was airlifted to Orlando Health in critical condition. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation, Montes said.
