TAVARES, Florida — Tavares Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at an apartment complex Sunday night.
One person was shot shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday at Caroline Court Apartments, 1000 East Caroline Street, said Tavares Police Sgt. Sarah Coursey. The complex, located off of Dora Avenue, is less than one-quarter of a mile from the busy intersection of Dora Avenue and Alfred Street.
The male victim was shot by a suspect known to him, Coursey said. The suspect fled in a dark-colored Chevy Avalanche and police are searching for him. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital and does not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
Police have identified the suspect, but are not releasing his name at this time, Coursey told Lake Legal News.
