TAVARES, Florida — A Sanford woman who slipped her GPS monitoring device and hung it on a tree, was caught hiding behind a shower curtain at a local motel Friday.
Seminole County notified Tavares Police Department that Whitney Paige Woodworth, 33, was being monitored by GPS and she was showing in Tavares, and had tampered with the tracking device, according to an arrest report.
TPD responded to Inn on the Green, 700 West Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares and found Woodworth’s GPS device hanging in a tree after a Seminole County Sheriff’s Office detective activated on audible alarm on the device, the affidavit states.
Hotel staff told police what room Woodworth was staying in and she refused to answer the door; staff attempted to let police in and they found the door was locked from the inside, according to the affidavit. TPD made entry and found Woodworth hiding in the bathroom behind a shower curtain.
Woodworth was charged with tampering with an electronic device and resisting arrest without violence. She was transported to the Lake County Jail, where she is being held on no bond.
