LEESBURG, Florida — A man on a motorcycle was killed in crash Friday night that shut down the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 441 for more than four hours, said Leesburg Police Capt. Joe Iozzi.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday, Michael C. Aten, 54, was travelling southbound on a red 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the right lane of U.S. Highway 441 near Professional Drive. A gray 2008 Ford Mustang being driven by Qwenetta D. Holt, 67, attempted to make a left turn out of the parking lot of Dollar General, 7940 U.S Highway 441.
The motorcycle collided with the left side of the Mustang, killing Aten, of Tavares, Iozzi said. Holt, of Leesburg, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The crash is under investigation by LPD’s traffic unit.
