EUSTIS, Florida — An Altamonte Springs man who t-boned a woman as she was pulling into her driveway and broke a power pole was arrested for DUI second offense Wednesday night.
Dillon Kenton Skog-Rios, 32, told Eustis Police he was in a black Dodge Ram travelling behind a gold Chevrolet car on Washington Avenue near Butch Cassidy Lane around 9:15 p.m. when the car slowed down at a fast rate and turned left in front of him without using a blinker. Skog-Rios said he was following too closely and swerved to avoid rear-ending the car and hit the driver’s side. He then hit a power pole, breaking it and causing approximately $30,000 worth of damage, according to an arrest affidavit. A passenger in Skog-Rios’ truck refused to cooperate with the investigation.
The driver of the car told police she slowed down, turned on her blinker and was struck by Skog-Rios as she turned left.
Skog-Rios had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the arresting officer could smell alcohol on his breath, he noted in the affidavit. Police performed field sobriety exercises and Skog-Rios swayed and used his arms to maintain his balance, according to the affidavit.
Skog-Rios was taken into custody and transported to Eustis Police Department where he refused a breath test. He was charged with DUI second offense after the arresting officer found he was convicted of BUI in 2015. Skog-Rios was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was released on $2,000 bond.
