SORRENTO, Florida — A gas station employee is facing a grand theft charge after admitting to stealing $1,300 from the store’s deposit Sunday.
According to an arrest affidavit, Yosief Ghirmai, a store manager at Circle K, 23932 Sorrento Avenue, Sorrento noticed the discrepancy and confronted Carolyn G. Grady, 63, of Mount Plymouth. (Grady’s arrest affidavit lists her as a “store manager” as well.) Grady admitted the theft and also texted the complainant manager and stated she (Grady) borrowed the money because she was having some financial difficulties. She was attempting to get a loan to pay the store back, the complainant manager told the arresting deputy.
Grady confirmed she sent the text and said she knew taking the money was illegal, but had a family medical emergency and needed the money.
Grady was charged with grand theft and released from the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
