MOUNT DORA, Florida — A man who was found passed out in his SUV with two dozen empty beer bottles in the driveway of Mount Dora Fire Department and blew twice the legal limit was arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana early Saturday morning, according to an arrest affidavit.
Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Mount Dora firefighters returned to the station at 4300 Progress Boulevard and found a vehicle blocking the rear driveway, according to the affidavit. An MDFD lieutenant approached the 2006 green Chevrolet SUV and found John Robert Wilson, 30, asleep in the driver’s seat. The lieutenant attempted to wake Wilson up and he was going “in and out of sleep,” the affidavit states. Several firefighters were able to remove Wilson from the SUV.
Mount Dora Police officers “immediately noticed the distinct odor of alcohol emitting from the subject’s person,” his bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech, according to the affidavit.
Wilson was asked to perform field sobriety tests and the arrested for DUI. Upon searching his SUV, police found 22 empty Budweiser bottles and two empty Bud Light bottles, along with 3.5 grams of marijuana.
Wilson was transported to the Lake County Jail, where he gave two breath samples and was found to have a BAC of .168 and .166, more than twice the legal limit. He was released on $2,000 bond.
