MOUNT DORA, Florida — One of the men accused of robbing a popular restaurant in 2019 has been arrested again, this time for grand theft auto and drug charges.
On Saturday, Mount Dora Police received information a stolen, brown 2016 Chevy Silverado was at T & N Market, 1345 North Grandview Street, Mount Dora. Police arrived and found the truck backed into a parking spot; a witness described the driver to police and they found a man matching the description walking down Hackett Street, according to an arrest affidavit. Hackett Street is behind T & N Market.
Police approached the man and found it was Charles Anthony Gunn II, 32, who they identified through previous interactions. Gunn is currently out on bond for the armed robbery of Vincent’s Italian Restaurant on U.S. Highway 441 in Orange County October 2019. Only Lake Legal News had the video of the terrifying moments the restaurant was robbed.
Along with the witness statement, store surveillance from T & N Market showed a man exiting the truck matching Gunn’s description, the affidavit states. Gunn told police two male juveniles gave him the truck and he then picked up his brother and his brother’s girlfriend. Gunn said he had never seen the truck before the two “jits” gave it to him. Gunn also made suicidal statements, according to the affidavit.
Police searched the truck and found crack cocaine and charged Gunn with that in addition to charging him with grand theft auto, possession of paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license. He is being held at the Lake County Jail on $45,000 bond.
