LEESBURG, Florida — The man found dead from an apparent overdose in the Bassville Park area of unincorporated Leesburg Wednesday afternoon has been identified, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Sgt. Fred Jones.
Justin Nicholas Glynn, 29, was found shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday by a woman who was walking in a wooded area near Ike Avenue and Westmont Road, Jones said.
“It looks like it was an apparent overdose,” Jones told Lake Legal News.
Just two days ago, a post on the Facebook group Bassville Park Word of Mouth accused Glynn of stealing a chainsaw and urging him to return it; and just last week he was picked up on a warrant (and bonded out) for grand theft and burglary by Eustis Police Department, stemming from an incident in August 2020 where Glynn was accused of burglary and stealing a golf cart. The details of that case were unavailable at press time.
Glynn, who was released from prison in 2019 after serving a 3-year bid for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, was also facing burglary and theft charges from a separate incident in October 2020 where he was accused of stealing a license plate, according to Lake County Clerk of Court online records. According to the arrest affidavit in that case, an LCSO deputy asked Glynn why his name kept coming up in auto thefts, auto burglaries and residential burglaries. Glynn initially said he had no idea what the deputy was talking about and then reportedly started crying and said, “Man, I [expletive] up. I keep doing stupid [expletive] because I am hooked on fentanyl and I need help.”
