EUSTIS, Florida — A Eustis man is facing a child abuse charge after a child told police he threw a bottle of hot sauce at a wall, shattering it and then shoved the child against the wall.
Eustis Police responded to Colonial Inn, 1000 South Bay Street, Eustis shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic altercation. When they arrived, the juvenile daughter of the man’s girlfriend told officers Luis Enrique Hiraldo Algarin, 41, was drunk and had thrown a bottle of hot sauce at the wall, shattering and covering the bedding with hot sauce. Algarin then shoved the girl, causing red marks on her chest.
Algarin told police he was upset because he had recently laid his 16-year-old niece to rest, and admitted throwing the hot sauce, but denied shoving the girl. Due to the red marks on the girl’s chest, police charged Algarin with child abuse.
He is being held at the Lake County Jail on $15,000 bond.
