LEESBURG, Florida — Leesburg Department is investigating a shooting that left a man in critical condition Thursday night.
Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, LPD responded to the 200 block of Church Street in response to a complaint of shots fired. When officer arrived on scene, they found Tydrone Nelson, 31, lying on a sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, said LPD Capt. Joe Iozzi in a press release. He was transported by ground to UF Health Leesburg and later flown to Ocala Regional Medical Center. He was last known to be in critical condition.
Early findings in the investigation indicate there was an exchange of gunfire, and police believe the parties involved knew each other, Iozzi said. Narcotics and money were found on the scene.
