TAVARES, Florida — An argument over damage to a home that led to a shooting in March resulted in a Leesburg man’s arrest on a warrant for attempted homicide Thursday.
Demitrus Andre “Meat” Boyd, who has been wanted since March, was arrested in Eustis early Thursday morning and is behind bars at the Lake County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Boyd is accused of shooting a man March 11 on Greenvalley Road in Leesburg, according to a probable cause affidavit. Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Boyd’s home at 1807 Greenvalley Road and found a man lying on the living room floor with a bullet hole to his neck. The man was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Several days after he was shot and still in intensive care, the victim, who also lived at the home on Greenvalley Road, told an LCSO detective he had a conversation with the homeowner, Cornelius Boyd earlier the day of the shooting, about damage the victim had caused to the home. The victim left and when he returned, “Meat” (the homeowner’s son) was at the residence. “Meat” confronted the victim about the damage and shot him in the neck with a chrome handgun, he told the detective.
The detective identified “Meat” as Demitrus Andre Boyd and the victim identified him in a photo line-up. According to Boyd’s arrest affidavit, he has several tattoos, including, “Meat,” “Thuggin,” “Life,” a lion, faces and a mural.
