LEESBURG, Florida — A Leesburg man found trespassing at Leesburg High School Thursday had a flare gun modified to shoot shotgun shells, ammunition, cocaine, and an unknown substance, according to an arrest affidavit.
Jabari Marquise Scott, 31, was found walking through the campus of LHS just before 11 a.m. by a school safety officer. LPD school resource officers detained Scott and he gave them a false name, according to the affidavit. After it was determined Scott gave police a false name, he was taken in custody under suspicion of giving a false name and trespassing on school property, the affidavit states.
Police searched Scott and found the modified flare gun, several rounds of ammunition, five small bags of cocaine, a vial of cocaine and more than 13 grams of an unidentified substance. Scott told police he took the items from his little brother because he did want him to get caught with them, the affidavit states.
Scott is charged with false information to a law enforcement officer, trespassing on school property, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of drugs with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school. He was taken to the Lake County Jail where he is being held on $43,000 bond.
