TAVARES, Florida — The Lake County Clerk’s Office has two more awards to hang on its wall.
For the 38th year running, the office was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) and also awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) for the ninth consecutive year. Both awards were given to the office by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United State and Canada (GFOA.)
Lake County Clerk of Court and Comptroller Gary Cooney said his finance department does a tremendous job compiling and reviewing these financial documents so Lake County residents can know and understand the county’s finances.
“I am so grateful to have a very talented staff who is dedicated to upholding the high standards recognized by the awards,“ Cooney told Lake Legal News. “It is our goal to keep Lake County citizens well informed about the financial condition of their county. My office never loses sight of the fact the finances we manage each day are ultimately the finances of the citizens.”
The CAFR includes the financial statements of each major county office, dependent special districts and smaller agencies in the county and the PAFR is a summarized report of the financials. Judging for the awards is performed by an independent panel.
