LEESBURG, Florida — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman in Leesburg early Thursday morning.
Deputies responded to a domestic dispute around 1:20 a.m. at a home on Fillmore Avenue in Leesburg, said LCSO Sgt. Fred Jones.
When they arrived, an unidentified male told them he was arguing with his girlfriend when she attacked him, causing him to accidentally discharge his weapon, Jones said. The woman, Traci Hamby, 37, was pronounced dead on the scene.
“It is early in the investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available,” Jones said in an email.
