CLERMONT, Florida — A man was charged with violating an injunction for protection and aggravated stalking after his wife told a Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy he chopped up her clothes with an axe and followed her around with it.
According to an arrest affidavit, LCSO responded to a home on Ott Williams Road in Clermont after the victim called and reported Robert F. Twigg, 56, was “acting crazy” and following her around with an axe, according to an arrest affidavit. LCSO arrived and found the victim walking with her dog about 100 feet from her home. She told the arresting deputy she believed Twigg took some illegal narcotics and was “acting crazy,” the affidavit states, she went on to say Twigg came home early and started making accusations against her, which started a verbal argument.
Twigg is then alleged to have picked up an axe and started chopping up the victim’s clothes; he then began swinging the axe around and following the victim, she told the deputy. The victim felt like Twigg was going to hit her with the axe and she picked up a knife to defend herself, according to the affidavit. Twigg refused to calm down and the victim called for help; she was not injured.
Twigg was taken into custody and charged with aggravated stalking and violating the injunction the victim was granted in 2018. Twigg is being held in the Lake County Jail on no bond.
