OSCEOLA COUNTY, Florida — A 56-year-old Clermont man was killed Tuesday morning on Florida’s Turnpike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Clermont man, who has not been identified, was southbound on Florida’s Turnpike in an SUV behind a 31-year-old Illinois man driving a pickup truck, near Mile Marker 195. The Clermont man failed to slow down and rear-ended the truck, causing his SUV to overturn and he was ejected and killed, FHP Lt Kim Montes said in a press release. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The pickup truck driver was wearing his seatbelt and he was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, Montes said.
