TAVARES, Florida — Tavares Police Department is investigating what appears to be a suicide at the Supervisor of Elections Office in Tavares, according to TPD Lt. Sarah Coursey.
Just before 9 a.m. Friday TPD responded to the Supervisor of Elections Office, 1898 East Burleigh Boulevard and found that an employee had apparently shot himself, Coursey told Lake Legal News.
The man, who was in his late 20s, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified, but his name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, Coursey said.
The man did not leave a note at the scene, but Coursey said it has, “nothing to do with the current election.”
This is an ongoing investigation.
