MOUNT DORA, Florida — Mount Dora Police Department in investigating a shooting that occurred in the 700 block of Grant Avenue Monday morning, according to City of Mount Dora Spokeswoman Lisa McDonald.
One person was shot and suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot to the ankle around 10 a.m. and was transported to AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares before police arrived at the scene at 716 Grant Avenue. The hospital was locked down for nearly an hour as a precaution, Tavares Police Lt. Sarah Coursey told Lake Legal News Monday afternoon.
This shooting comes just two weeks after two people were murdered during an armed robbery at T&N Market, 1345 North Grandview Street just a few blocks away. Owners Khiem “Ken” Ba Trinh, 56, and Minh “Tina” Nguyen, 47, during a robbery by an unknown assailant. Nguyen was pronounced dead on the scene Monday night and Trinh died a few days later.
No one has been arrested in the slayings, but a woman was arrested for lying to authorities the night of the murders. Undrea Dixon, 42, went into the market just after the couple were shot and heard the victims in distress. She failed to render aid to the victims and told police she “saw nothing.”
Dixon is being held in the Lake County Jail on $10,000 bond on the perjury charge and no bond on a probation violation.
The victim in Monday’s incident is not cooperating with police and there are no threats to the public, McDonald said.
