[Original Breaking Story ] EUSTIS, Florida – An early morning search warrant resulted in the detainment of three people Friday. Charges are expected sometime today, said Eustis Police Officer Lauren Brown.
Eustis Police, in conjunction with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Leesburg Police Department, served search warrants at Rooms 25 and 26 at Colonial Inn Motel, 1000 S. Bay St. early Friday morning. “We’ve had complaints of drug activity,” Brown said. No one was hurt in the early morning raid, “The operation went as planned. (The subjects) were taken without incident,” he said.
Colonial Inn has had a local reputation for drug activity for many years. An internet search revealed this review on Trip Advisor from liver007 in April 2007: “Me and my boyfriend were in town for bike fest, The Motel where we were suppose to stay was full. he sent us to his fathers place the colonial motel . he charged us 66 up front . when we got the place was horrible drugs being sold right in front of us . man told us to park our bike inside Motel .i was vary (sic) afraid but we would not be there long just one night . when we went into room it was horrible holes in blinds, dirty, room smelled vary (sic) bad when i sit on the bed it fell in the middle ,only one light worked , we got a refund than found out the room was 50 a nite (sic) so we were over charged , it did not matter we left i would not reccomment (sic) this place for a dog ,police no where around man letting people sell drugs right in front of the rooms.”
In 2015, the registered agent of Colonial Inn, Amrutlal Patel, was arrested for allegedly pushing a 3-year-old out of his way after a dispute with the child’s grandmother over rent. The charges were later dropped.
This is a developing story.
