OSCEOLA County — A 21-year-old Lake County woman was killed in a crash early Saturday morning, Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes said in a press release.
Denisha Glasford, of Groveland, was northbound in a 2009 Toyota on Kenansville Road near State Road 60 on Osceola County at 5:18 a.m. when she traveled into the southbound land for an unknown reason, Montes said. Glasford struck a 2004 semi truck head-on, being driven by Humberto Mejia, 62, of Saint Cloud. The engine separated from the Toyota and landed in the grass, causing a small brush fire and catching the semi truck on fire. Mejia was able to escape the fire.
Glasford, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead on the scene and Mejia received minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
