TAVARES, Florida – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced having issued criminal citations to 20 people during a two-day alcohol sting Friday.
LCSO Special Investigations Bureau, along with the City/County Investigative Bureau, comprised of officers from Eustis, Clermont and Leesburg police departments, visited 106 local businesses using underage, undercover buyers. Buyers went to restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores and liquor stores, said LCSO Lt. John Herrell in a press release.
LCSO regularly conducts these operations to make it more difficult for underage buyers to get alcohol. “Underage drinking is a recipe for disaster and everyone who knows sells alcoholic beverages knows this,” said LCSO Sheriff Peyton Grinnell in a press release. “If they don’t follow the law and properly check identifications, we are going to hold them accountable. End of story!”
