CLERMONT, Florida – An 18-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after he shared a video of a 17-year-old girl in the shower with her breasts exposed on Snapchat.
A Lake County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call of harassment just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The complainant, who is not identified in the heavily-redacted arrest affidavit, told the deputy his female friend told him Guillermo Ortega-Rosado posted a video of her in the shower on Snapchat and had been harassing her through text messages.
The deputy met with the unidentified victim who told him she was only 17 at the time the video was taken and she had sent it to Ortega Rosado willingly – but he was never supposed to show it to anyone. She also told the deputy she was unaware Ortega-Rosado still had the video on his phone, according to the affidavit.
The victim said Ortega-Rosado had texted her and called her multiple times despite her telling him to stop. Earlier on Tuesday, Ortega-Rosado texted her and called her a “whore,” and a, “(expletive,)” after their conversation.
The deputy spoke with a witness, also unidentified, who told him Ortega-Rosado sent him two videos on Snapchat – one that disappeared before he saw it and another that had the caption, “This is of her while she was 18 years old” – and it showed the victim in the shower with her naked breasts exposed, according to the affidavit. The witness told the deputy the video disappeared after he viewed it. That is a common feature of Snapchat, according to Snapchat Support on Snapchat.com. “Delete is our default. This means most messages sent over Snapchat will be automatically deleted once they’ve been viewed or have expired,” the website states.
Deputies later questioned Ortega-Rosado about the victim and he first confirmed to deputies he knew the female, but claimed he did not have any nude photos or videos of her; however Ortega-Rosado did not want deputies to look through his phone. He then changed his story and admitted he did have them, according to the affidavit. He was charged with sexual cyber harassment and obtained his release from the the Lake County Jail on $1,000 bond.
