MOUNT DORA, Florida – On Friday police arrested Thomas R. Glendening, 66, for two counts of battery after conflicting versions of events that centered around the amount of money being spent on cable. According to an arrest affidavit, Glendening accused his step-son, Frank, of striking him in the nose with an open palm “for no reason” – whereas Glendening’s wife, Helen, told police that she told the two men to “stop yelling” about the cable bill, only to watch her husband push her son against a bedroom dresser. “While Helen was attempting to separate Thomas and Frank, Thomas turned around and punched her in the chest and pulled Helen’s hair”, the report states.
When questioned, the step-son, Frank, told police that it was his mother and Glendening who were arguing, but admitted that after Glendening had pushed him and pulled his mother’s hair he struck Glendening with an open palm, causing Glendening’s nose to bleed.
Police determined that”there was probable cause that Thomas was the primary aggressor in this battery complaint. It was also determined that Frank has been living back in the home for 5 weeks and Thomas and Helen have been married for almost 5 years.”
The day after his arrest, Glendening secured his release from the Lake County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
