LEESBURG, Florida – A woman concealed nearly $85 worth of oxtails, ribs and steaks at Publix on 14th Street Monday, but at least made sure she paid for her ‘Pub-sub.’ According to the arrest affidavit, a Publix loss prevention employee spotted Megan Poulin Hafford, 34, of Leesburg, selecting different types of steak with an empty bag in her cart. Hafford proceeded to aisle 4 where the employee witnessed her conceal the meat in her bag, the affidavit states.
Hafford went to customer service, where she paid for the sub she had in her cart – however she made no attempt to pay for the meat, according to the affidavit. She passed all points of sale and exited the store and the loss prevention employee stopped her outside and escorted her back into the store. Hafford admitted she stole the meat, totaling almost $85.
She was trespassed from the store and taken to the Lake County Jail. She is being held without bond due to this charge violating her probation of a previous DUI and a previous grand theft case.
