TAVARES, Florida – A pizza delivery driver is facing forgery and theft charges for altering credit card receipts, according to an arrest report obtained by Lake Legal News.
Brett Patrick, 21, was arrested Tuesday at Domino’s, 457 S. Duncan Drive, Tavares, after a manager noticed two suspicious credit card receipts and started digging. The manager called customers to verify tip amounts and found that Patrick had altered the tip amount on 14 credit card receipts. Tavares Police investigated and interviewed at least three of Domino’s customers who told police the tips were altered.
One victim told police because he was “feeling blessed that evening,” he gave Patrick a $20 cash tip and did not tip on his credit card. Police found Patrick added a $6 tip. Another victim, who ordered pizza twice in two days, told police she tipped Patrick $2 on Sept. 13 and $3 on Sept. 15. Patrick is alleged to have altered the slips to show an $8 tip on each delivery. A third victim told police she authorized her fiancé to tip Patrick $2. After police showed her the receipt, she told police that the tip, total and signature were all forged. All three victims signed an intent to prosecute form.
