LAKE COUNTY, Florida — An unidentified man pushing a bicycle was killed when he was struck by a Nissan Murano as he attempted to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 27 near Leesburg, Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Murano, being driven by a 64-year-old woman of The Villages, was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 27 near Plantation Boulevard, shortly after 9 p.m. when the unidentified man walked directly in its path, FHP Lt. Kim Montes said. The driver and her 77-year-old female passenger, also of The Villages, were not injured. They were both wearing their seatbelts.
The man pushing the bicycle was pronounced dead on the scene and had not been identified at press time. The crash remains under investigation.
