CLERMONT, Florida — A Clermont man has been released from the Lake County Jail on $10,000 bond after being accused of breaking a 5-month-old baby’s leg.
Charles Boyd Allen, 24, “knowingly and intentionally threw the juvenile victim onto a bed, unprotected,” causing a fracture of the infant’s right tibia, according to a probable cause affidavit, in addition to squeezing the baby’s head causing bruising.
Allen failed to get the baby help for at least 15 minutes and told the baby’s mother he “believes he hurt the juvenile victim,” a Lake County Sheriff’s detective noted in the affidavit.
The baby was originally taken to South Lake Hospital, where the broken leg was discovered and later transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for further treatment and confirmation of the broken leg, according to the affidavit.
A warrant was issued for Allen’s arrest for aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm Tuesday; he was arrested Friday and released Saturday.
