UMATILLA, Florida — A suspect is on the loose after someone was shot at their home in Umatilla Wednesday morning.
According to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks shot the victim at the victim’s home at 51 Highland Avenue at 11:20 a.m. The suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan with tinted windows, LCSO Lt. John Herrell said.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The shooting caused both Umatilla Middle School and Umatilla High School to be placed on lockdown for a short period of time, according to Lake County Schools.
