GROVELAND, Florida — A 22-year-old woman who told a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy, “It’s me, I did it, you can cuff me, just don’t shoot me,” is facing two felonies after cutting a woman while the victim was holding her daughter, Thursday.
According to a heavily redacted arrest affidavit, Shavannah Nechole Stafford confronted the victim with a knife over someone eating pie; the victim told LCSO Stafford said, “I’m going to kill you,” and charged her with the knife and she tried to push Stafford away to protect herself and her daughter. The child’s age was not available in the affidavit. The victim was able to keep Stafford at bay twice, but Stafford cut the woman across her nose, the affidavit states.
The child told LCSO her mom was holding her when Stafford hit her arm while attempting to hit her mother. The juvenile “appeared to be very distraught and traumatized,” the arresting deputy noted in the affidavit.
Stafford told an LCSO deputy, “It’s me, I did it, you can cuff me, just don’t shoot me,” and was taken into custody. She told the deputy she took the knife — described as a butcher knife by the victim — and threw it off the porch. Deputies were unable to locate the knife after an extensive search.
The victim was treated by Lake EMS and transported to South Lake Hospital for additional treatment.
Stafford was arrested for aggravated domestic battery and aggravated domestic child abuse. She is being held in the Lake County Jail on $15,000 bond.
