EUSTIS, Florida — Eustis Police Department has released more information about Friday night’s shooting that followed the city’s annual Light-Up Eustis event.
Witnesses saw four black males in a field near Eustis Post Office at Clifford Avenue and Eustis Street; one suspect fired shots at a red SUV and missed, shortly after 9:30 p.m., and one shot struck an innocent bystander, EPD Officer J. Allred said in a press release Monday morning.
“The victim was standing several hundred feet from where the shooting took place and was not the intended target,” Allred said.
The woman was in the brick area near Wells Fargo Advisors and Sol De Mexico when she was hit by one of the three shots fired, EDP Chief Gary Calhoun told Lake Legal News Friday night.
Following the shooting, people ran into Tillie’s Tavern & Grill and employees locked the door, witness Eddie Munoz told LLN on scene Friday.
The victim was transported to Central Florida Regional Medical Center in Sanford where she underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the upper arm.
This is an ongoing investigation; if you have information contact EPD Det. Cpl. Carpenter at 352-357-4121 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477.) If you call Crimeline, you may be eligible for a reward.
