[Update]: Mr. Schufeldt has been safely recovered in Martin County, per a 2:23 p.m. LPD update by Capt. Joe Iozzi.
LEESBURG, Florida—A Silver Alert has been issued for an 81-year-old man who was last seen in Leesburg Monday afternoon.
According to a Leesburg Police Department Facebook post, James Douglas Schufeldt left Jenkins Nissan, 10234 South U.S. Highway 441, Leesburg around 4 p.m. headed southbound and indicated he was traveling to the Florida Keys. He was driving a red Nissan Sentra SR Turbo, with license plate PKM X54.
Schufeldt is described as a white male, 5-foot-7, weighs 250 pounds, with gray hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing a dark, button down shirt, beige shorts and slippers.
