EUSTIS, Florida — Eustis Police Department is investigating after a body was found Thursday afternoon in Lake Eustis.
The body, a white male, was found directly in front of the Eustis Community Center and was spotted by a passerby utilizing the Eustis Lake Walk, shortly before 4:30 p.m., EPD Cpl. Lauren Brown told Lake Legal News on scene.
“The complainant was on the lake walk and saw the subject in the water and called 911,” Brown said.
Police had to wait several hours for the medical examiner to come to the scene and remove the body from the water and LLN was on scene as the M.E. arrived. Police have identified the man but did release his name at press time. The case remains under investigation.
This is the second body found in Lake Eustis just this year. In February, during the city’s annual Georgefest the body of Maurice Akeem-Vonche McCook, 31, was found by a passerby near Ferran Park. He accidentally drowned.
