UMATILLA, Florida — A popular roadway remains closed Sunday afternoon as the Florida Highway Patrol investigates a fatal motorcycle crash.
According to FHP Lt. Kim Montes, just before noon Sunday, a 42-year-old Orange City woman was on a motorcycle speeding eastbound on County Road 450 near Lake Yale Road when she failed to negotiate a curve and struck a guardrail.
She was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene. She was wearing a helmet, Montes said in a press release.
The crash remains under investigation.
