MOUNT DORA, Florida — Mount Dora Police Department is continuing to investigate two separate shootings, including a shooting at Lowe’s that resulted in a man’s death in May.
Lamonte J. Lochkhart, 22, of Sebring was found shot to death in a silver sedan in the parking lot of Lowes, 18795 U.S. Highway 441, Mount Dora on May 15. Just before 8:45 p.m. police received a 9-1-1 call reporting the shooting; the store was still open when the shooting occurred, Mount Dora Police Deputy Chief Mike Fewless told Lake Legal News the night of the murder.
Police believe Lockhart knew his killer. “We want to have the complete picture; we want to know what happened,” MDPD Capt. Coy Hunter told LLN Friday.
In another incident earlier this month, a man and a woman suffered traumatic injuries after being shot multiple times. MDPD responded to 745 East Jackson Avenue around 9:45 pm. July 7 after a woman reported her neighbor had been shot.
Officers arrived and found a black female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and attempted to render aid. Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene to assist with crowd control and medical personnel tended to the victim.
While the victim was receiving medical attention, officers received information another victim had been shot in the area of Grant Avenue and Clayton Street — just a few blocks away, according to a report.
Officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. In a Faceook live video, viewed more than 4,400 times, first responders can be seen working on the male victim while police cordon off the area. Both victims were airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The victim’s names are still not being released at this time.
Police are actively investigating a motive and are making progress.
“We have evidence we’re going through,” Hunter told LLN.
