MOUNT DORA, Florida — Mount Dora Police Department is investigating a shooting that sent a man and a woman to the hospital with traumatic injuries Tuesday night.
According to a report, MDPD responded to a home on East Jackson Avenue just before 9:45 p.m. Tuesday night after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a woman stating her neighbor had been shot. The exact address is not being released by MDPD at this time; however a Facebook live video that’s been viewed nearly 8,000 times posted the night of the shooting, shows a heavy police presence and Lake EMS working on a female victim at 745 East Jackson Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a black female with at least one gunshot wound and attempted to render aid, according to the report. The woman’s name has not been released. Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene to assist with crowd control and medical personnel tended to the victim.
While the victim was receiving medical attention, officers received information another victim had been shot in the area of Grant Avenue and Clayton Street — just a few blocks away, the report states. In the same Facebook live video a man can be seen frantically telling first responders “somebody else got shot.”
Officers found a man — who MDPD is not identifying at this time — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. In a second Facebook live video, viewed 3,800 times, first responders can be seen working on the male victim while police cordon off the area. Both victims were airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Their conditions at press time were unknown.
Police are still looking into the motive behind the shooting. “We are still developing that through our investigation,” MDPD Capt. Coy Hunter told Lake Legal News.
Police do have at least one suspect, Hunter said Thursday. “We’re still investigating.”
