LADY LAKE, Florida — A pair of suspects accused of residing in a Little League building for two days was arrested Tuesday.
According to an arrest affidavit, Lady Lake Police responded the area of North Guava Street and North Clay Avenue on a report of a burglary in progress. A town employee told police they came to a building that belongs to Lady Lake Little League to adjust some cameras that had been damaged during a criminal mischief.
When the employee arrived, Robert Sherman Rourk, 30, and Katelyn Alexis Rachel, 19, quickly shut the door to keep the employee from coming in; the employee called police and Rourk and Rachel fled on foot and were eventually found behind Auto Zone, 213 West Hermosa Street.
Police investigated the scene and found pillows and blankets and it appeared the pair had been staying in the building since approximately Sunday, according to the affidavit. They also burglarized the concession stand by consuming food and drinks and when police searched Rourk’s backpack, they located a laptop, mouse and three autographed baseball memorabilia items.
Rourk and Rachel were both charged with burglary to an unoccupied structure and petit theft, and Rourk is facing an additional charge of criminal mischief. He is being held at the Lake County Jail on $25,000 bond; Rachel is being held on $6,000 bond.
