MOUNT DORA, Florida — Mount Dora Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a man in the parking lot of Lowe’s, 18795 U.S. Highway 441, Mount Dora Friday night.
A witness called 9-1-1 at 8:44 p.m. to report the shooting, Mount Dora Police Capt. Coy Hunter told Lake Legal News.
“It did occur while the store was open,” said Mount Dora Deputy Police Chief Michael Fewless.
“It does not appear to be random,” Hunter said, “It seems they knew each other. We are not concerned anyone is out there targeting shopping centers.”
Police have identified the murder victim but did not release his name Friday night. The suspect is not in custody and police only identified him as male.
A silver Cadillac appeared to be the focal point of the investigation and police had a large part of the parking lot cordoned off with crime scene tape. An employee of Lowe’s told LLN on scene that he saw the large law enforcement response but was unaware of what happened.
This is a developing story.
