TAVARES, Florida — Tavares Police are investigating a shooting that left a father dead and his son in police custody, said Tavares Police Sgt. Sarah Coursey.
Matthew Perez, 32, is accused of shooting his father, Joaquin Perez, 60, killing the elder Perez at 4870 Marsh Harbor Drive in The Groves at Baytree subdivision shortly before 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. Police believe it was a domestic dispute and charges are expected to be filed, Coursey said.
Tavares Police were awaiting a search warrant for the home at press time and it’s an ongoing investigation, Coursey said.
