PAISLEY, Florida — A DeLand woman is behind bars after a man accused her of nearly choking him unconscious and robbing him of $200.
Around 3 p.m. Monday, a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy responded to Hibiscus Avenue in Paisley on a report of robbery, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim, who is medically disabled, told the deputy Rosa Marie Flores, 41, began begging him for money and when he refused and asked her to leave, she “solicited sexual favors in exchange for money and when he refused her advances, she became physically hostile,” the affidavit states.
Flores allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and pushed him to the floor, while continuing to choke him. She took $200 out of his pocket and fled by foot, and the victim called 9-1-1.
Flores was found “at a place she is known to frequent,” the affidavit states. She denied the allegations when she was first questioned and “later alleged the victim was asking for sexual favors, but she never robbed him,” the affidavit states. Flores was charged with grand theft and robbery. She is being held in the Lake County Jail on $16,000 bond.
