FRUITLAND PARK, Florida — A man who allegedly stole a Henry’s Hard Soda, a golf cart, tried to steal a boat and threatened an elderly man, is facing a litany of charges, according to three arrest affidavits.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Brook Road in Fruitland Park on a report of an assault, battery and a possible stolen golf cart. The victim told deputies he saw Anthony David Hall, 26, driving a golf cart he knew did not belong to him. The victim followed Hall and Hall pulled over, got out of the golf cart and came towards the victim as the victim got out of his truck. The victim asked Hall about the golf cart and Hall responded, “I know you carry a gun and why don’t you just shoot me?” The victim told Hall to back off and Hall got in his face. The victim backhanded Hall and punched him once and Hall fled, leaving the golf cart, according to an arrest affidavit. A Henry’s Hard Soda that was still cold was found in the golf cart. It matched production numbers on the remaining bottles at home also believed to be burglarized by Hall.
Deputies were then notified of a second burglary in the area; they made contact with a witness who told them she saw a man, identified as Hall, 26, trying to lower her neighbor’s boat into the water. The woman asked Hall what he was doing and he said the owner asked him to work on her trolling motor, the affidavit states.
The witness contacted the owner of the boat, and the owner questioned Hall, who started rambling about a man coming after him, and he needed her boat to get away. She told Hall he could not use her boat and he got on his bicycle and rode away. The man Hall was referring to was the man who confronted him about the stolen golf cart.
That man was confronted by Hall again, this time with a broken broomstick and he told the victim he was, “going to kick his [expletive,]” the affidavit states.
Deputies located Hall and he ran; he ran through several backyards and did not stop until he was threatened with a taser. Hall was apprehended and found with a wooden, folding knife and methamphetamine in his pocket.
Hall was transported to the Lake County Jail and is facing numerous charges, including two counts of grand theft, armed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, armed grand theft, armed burglary of an occupied dwelling, armed burglary of a dwelling, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a person over 65, assault on a person over 65, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia; petit theft and resisting arrest without violence.
Hall is being held on $56,000 bond.
