SORRENTO, Florida — “I cut her throat and I’m telling on myself, so you can’t be the hero,” are the words a man allegedly told a deputy as he was being arrested for aggravated battery, Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Sorrento Saturday night in reference to a domestic battery. The arresting deputy made contact with the victim and immediately noticed a large gash on her neck and her collar soaked with blood, he noted in the affidavit.
The deputy told Mitchell Lee Scott, 47, of Sorrento to stand up and he immediately stated, “I cut her throat and I’m telling on myself, so you can’t be the hero,” according to the affidavit. Scott was aggressive and angry about the situation and said, “I wanna go to jail. I don’t give a [expletive.]”
Lake EMS responded to treat the victim and after Scott was taken into custody, the victim told the deputy Scott came up behind her while she was cooking, grabbed her with his left hand and cut her throat with a pocketknife in his right hand. She said Scott told her he was going to kill her.
The victim was able to get away from Scott, calm him down and called LCSO. Scott was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon was taken to the Lake County Jail and is being held on $15,000 bond at that charge. He was also charged with violation of probation — stemming from a July 2019 arrest for a domestic violence battery at the same residence, where Scott left the victim lacerated and bleeding — and is being held on no bond for the violation.
