EUSTIS, Florida — The annual Georgefest celebration in Eustis was marred by the discovery of a body in Lake Eustis near Ferran Park Saturday afternoon.
Around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, a passerby spotted the body of an adult male near the Eustis Lake Walk in Ferran Park, Eustis Police Capt. Gary Winheim told Lake Legal News minutes ago.
The body was likely in the water before Saturday, “It does not appear it occurred today,” Winheim said.
Police removed the body from the water and turned it over to the medical examiner, and an autopsy will be performed. “There doesn’t appear to be any signs of foul play,” Winheim informed LLN.
Police do know the man’s identity, but are withholding releasing it pending notification of next of kin, Winheim told LLN.
