ORANGE COUNTY, Florida — A 30-year-old man is dead following a crash near Zellwood Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Shortly before 6:30 a.m., Kimberly Davis Jackson, 49, of Tavares was travelling eastbound on Jones Avenue in a 2016 Hyundai SUV. She attempted to pass a vehicle in a passing zone and the left front of the SUV struck the left side of a 2005 Honda motorcycle travelling westbound on Jones Avenue, said FHP Lt. Kim Montes. The SUV travelled to the south shoulder and overturned in a ditch. The motorcycle traveled to the north shoulder and overturned into a water-filled ditch. The motorcycle’s rider, Robert Taylor, of Altamonte Springs was killed.
Jackson was transported to AdventHealth Waterman with minor injuries and charges are pending against her, Montes said.
